what does the watchtower teach you?
(does not include skills learnt at bethel).
let's see.... 1) how to be a public speaker.
I almost threw up in my mouth when I read the title...then I realized it was a joke!
The WTS teaches little children and adults how to read a little paper booklet and recite it verbatum when called upon....what a skill!

thanksgiving is in the us, canada, phillipines, guam, liberia, german and slavic lands etc.
god began the annual harvest festival of booths or festival of ingathering celebrated in autumns by israel.

We aren't having the big dinner we usually have this year because #1 son came home with Chicken Pox.
So this year its just hubby, me, #1 & #2 most wonderful little boys in the world.
But a lot of JW's we know do celebrate the food part of thanksgiving although they would choke to admit it...they eat turkey because its on sale...and all those things go with turkey...but they aren't really celebrating even though a bunch of friends and family are together...LOL!

it's funny to me to notice, for the most part jw's are such negative people.
when i speak with my dad or brother who are staunch jw's the glass is always half empty.
everything is depressing.
I notice with my husbands mother and his sisters that are JW's they are negative.
When my Mother in Law talks I swear I hear Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh....LOL!

i just watched the local bbc news and there was a story about a woman who'd fed her baby while sitting on a public bench.
she finished and was on her way when a police car drew up beside her and asked her to stop.
there had been a complaint.
I have to chime in on this.
I was breastfeeding my first son at the New England Aquarium and the security guards came up to me and said that no food or drink was allowed in the aquarium.
I said, well if you can find a way to unattatch my breasts then I'll gladly take them off. He was very adament about the fact that no food or drink was allowed and was trying to make our family leave for not following rules. The head person came and our trip that day was free.
I also had a waitress suggest to me that I breastfeed our second son in the restroom at the Cheesecake Factory because some patrons were offended. I made a huge stink and said "Why would I want to feed my child where someone is sh*tting." The manager came and gave us our meal free and a $50 gift certificate...and nobody could see what our little one was doing because the tables are so high and I am so short...all they saw were some feet happily kicking!
I have had people come up to me while breastfeeding both of my children and they congratulated me on doing the right thing for my baby. I've also had teenage boys make comments that are very immature but funny...."some kids get all the luck" etc etc.
I am not super discreet and also not super open. I usually use my hand and part of my shirt to cover my breast because son # 2 doesn't like anything on his head.
AND...
We also had a lady at our KH who was breastfeeding her 6 year old. The little girl would come up and lift up her mom's shirt right in the middle of the KH. It completely grossed me out....we aren't in Africa where children are starving, so I see no need for breastfeeding a 6 year old!

interesting article from today's national post:.
we don't eat together, and are paying for itfamilies in crisis: researchers say suppers apart may cause social ills misty harriscanwest news service.

I cook dinner for the family every night during the week and we sit down and eat together with no TV.
On the weekends we may go out to a restaurant or hit the drive through.
On the weekends we always eat breakfast together...its our family tradition. I always make whatever anyone wants....a big breakfast - waffles, chocolate chip or blueberry pancakes, french toast...whatever has been requested.
But my kids are still little....so it may change later in life when parents turn into something to be avoided!

yep.
never thought i'd do a thing like this.
it started with a search for a spooky avtar for this forum, so i downloaded a photo from the "10 most wanted criminals" fbi site.
He was featured on Oprah. If he is caught because of your tip you could get one of her 100 Thousand Dollar rewards!
But more importantly, he is a disgusting evil man and I hope it is him so he can be taken off the streets to never harm another child again!

Hi Orb,
I'm sorry for the abuse you endured from your ex-husband. For you to have survived means you must be one strong lady.
I hope the visit with your son will go well and that a healing can begin between you.
Big hugs,
